Faulty Hot Water Heater Caused Water Damage in Fairfield, Ohio

The water damage in this home in Fairfield, Ohio was caused by a faulty hot water heater. When the tank leaked, most of the basement area was affected with over an inch of standing water on the carpeted and hard surface flooring. SERVPRO of Northwest Cincinnati received the call for mitigation services after “regular” business hours and responded quickly. After a water damage event, it is very important to dry the affected area quickly and completely in order to prevent further damage such as mold growth in the home. For the area shown in the photos, the technicians extracted the standing water and removed the non-salvageable carpet padding as well as the baseboards. The carpet was lifted for drying and holes were drilled in the lower portions of the walls so that the wall cavities could also be dried. The SERVPRO air movers and dehumidifiers were set up in the areas until the dryout process was complete. Once complete, all debris was hauled away, the drying equipment was removed and the area was ready for the structural repairs.
